Dawnstar class Battlecruiser

The Dawn Star class was designed as a tribute to the Imperial Emperor's first command, the AFNS Dawn Star which was nearly destroyed during the Battle of Halifax. Though he personally saw to the retrofit of the original vessel, one of his first acts after being crowned was to launch a widescale retrofit of nearly all of the old Federation vessels still in service with the Empire. The Dawn Star class (formerly Requiem class) battlecruisers were among the first ships to benefit from these efforts. Always a dangerous short-range fighter, the reinvisioned Dawn Star class had most of its older weapons stripped, replacing its primary guns with seven Vox Rei class heavy plasma-beam cannons and nearly a dozen heavy plascannons (3 meter aperture) and a host of ion array clusters. Backing this impressive spread of enmergy weapon are a pair of Heavy Rail Cannons and ten ship-killer torpedo tubes. Though somewhat under-armed at long range, the Dawn Star class has shown an unnerving penchant for survival, often able to rapidly close with opponents to deliver vicious strikes, then withdrawing with equally amazing speed. The crew of these vessels are especially proud to serve on a ship class which both protected their emperor and led him to victory over League forces on numerous occasions.
