here:

Good day to you gentlemen, I am rear-admiral Grafton, commander of ordnance, League Greater Offensive Fleet. My callsign is Strangelet, often abbreviated to Stranj.

the LGOF only selects the very best to command its forces, so I shan't treat you like children. It's a mess out there. Since the massacre at Halifax, public opinion has been for the most part with Antares. We've lost almost 12% of our garrison fleets to defections, sometimes wholesale, the Foyeri territories have reneged on their treaties prohibiting them from supplying Antares with ordnance, the Eretean republic has turned on us outright and several other nations are questioning the validity of the league itself.

You have the task of bringing the galaxy back into unity. The Antarean Federation... apologies, the Antarean EMPIRE cannot be allowed to run roughshod over centuries of peace and stability for the sake of a few trade agreements and misconstrued defensive actions.

Those of you already in the field, I salute your valiant efforts and urge you to continue in the traditions of the United Space Navy - protection of the citizens of the league, promotion of the league's values and loyalty to the ideals of the United League.

For those about to take their first command, Marshall Thurgood has asked me to speak a few words on the obligations that your new found responsibility will bring.

First and foremost, this is not a game. in most engagements people will die, and one of your paramount duties is to ensure that those lives are not squandered, or indeed if at all possible, are not lost at all.

Secondary to this, but also important, is to remember that the coffers of the League Naval Command are not bottomless. Every time you lose a ship, somewhere an accountant cries. In short, our forces are not expendable and every attempt to ensure the survival of as many men and as many vessels as possible should be made, insofar as it does not conflict with your orders or objectives. Discretion, gentlemen, is the better part of valour, and there is no shame in living to fight another day. A respected general of pre-exodus fame put the matter quite succinctly - "The objective of war is not to die for your nation, but to make the other bastards die for theirs"

The succesful adherance to both of these points is paramount to achieving victory over the well-organised and well funded forces of the Antarean Imperial Space Navy. They have a quarter of the resources that we do, but they are fanatical believers in their ideals and their hardware is, in many cases, superior.

All is not lost however. we have the advantage in numbers and online resources, plus the support of the five founding nations. Together we can pull this disparate union of worlds out of the fire.

As your liason officer, I will be available on this channel to answer your queries to the best of my ability. I have faith in you all and I am certain that this conflict can be resolved quickly and with the minimum of bloodshed.

Gentlemen, the floor is yours.

Gentlemen, a shift in the wind is approaching.

I know many of you have languished here in Postings, impatiently awaiting the action i promised you some months ago, and for this i apologise.

however i am at liberty to divulge that command is currently reviewing mobilisation orders.

we have a date now for general mobilisation of the LGOF, which is January 11th of this sol year.

Some changes have been made to Fleet protocols in the past few weeks to reconfigure our forces based on the latest intel. these include some rules of engagement designed to encourage the free will of the fleet commander whilst limiting over-application of force by individuals as laid down in the Taurean Conventions of 544AE.

you will be given "Command Points", which represent the number of vessels you can command at one time in one zone. you may mass forces as you see fit when requisitioning ships to a friendly zone, but you may not jump out of the system with more ships than your CP rating allows.

your Standing rating still applies to the general requisition of ships, although this system is up for review very soon. your command terminal will alert you to any breaches of these protocols, and will not allow you to violate them.

So the bottom line is, command want to put more brains on fewer ships. in my opinion this policy is well founded - proven during the last solesian conflict where admirals commanding five-hundred ship fleets were overwhelmed by the smaller solesian formations and their precise team tactics. for too long, the USN way has been the way of brute force and massive numbers. we no longer have those numbers and our iron fist has picked up more than a little rust.

So.

To this end you will be dealing with formations of between five and fifteen ships, depending on how you assemble your fleet. these are not hard numbers - you could put together a shoal of many fast corvettes or take out one or two of our supercapital class vessels. the CP rating for ships scales with class, cost and armament, these values being determined by command - they may be subject to changes.

We're also recieving new briefing packs on Command Protocols, dealing specifically with Commander Issued Objectives or CIOs. this is a flexible system to enable higher ranking field commanders to issue general orders to the entire LGOF.

Commanders will be free to respond to CIOs as and when they see fit, selecting and either accepting or refusing the Objective (be aware that repeated refusals of reasonable Objectives may be noted in your personel files)

Details of these new protocols will be included with your general mobilisation orders on jan 11th.

I will be updating these bulletins more frequently now that general mobilisation approaches, and i suggest that you gentlemen attempt to get a little less comfortable here at Postings. i'm seeing some flabby guts and long haircuts appearing in this briefing room. perhaps we should all take some steps to ensure that Antie doesnt turn up looking sharper than us :)

Thankyou gentlemen, that will be all for today.

I have also joined the USN and serve with honor.

huray 2 all commanders of USN

I await your orders sir.

great to be aboard the USN i'm eager to serve under your command

by LEGION

I have long awaited the chance to serve with the USN, and I will serve my superiors to the best of my abilities. Just one question, however. How often, if at all, will our fleets be sent on missions to engage the enemy? Or wil we usually just engage any hostiles we encounter? Once again, I will serve you with honour, and I thank you for the opportunity to serve the cause of the USN. GLORY TO THE USN!

You will normally engage any hostiles you encounter and the star systems where you should look for them are marked. And i also hope you would fight with in a team too.

you will be expected to use your initiative when encountering forces unknown or unspecified as targets, however fleet command will regularly issue directives detailing major offensives, which will show up in your command data.

Im ready to fight for our great nation, just as soon as im giving active duty to fight for the USN, and as i always say, ''If you kill the ones the send they will send no more- Famous Vietnamese General.

I will be graduating from the Fleet Academy in 22 days, I look forward to fighting with all of you who are graduating along with me.

Sir, Captain Lyv, of the Cinnabar Republic reporting. Republic Forces are awaiting orders, and are currently massing in systems "Hope" and "Peligree," sir.

I am proud to serve the USN with Pride for the greater Glory of the ULP.

Reporting for duty sir!

Commander Pruett (Callsign Cosmo) here; glad to be aboard, sir.

But I think you really need to keep those imperials off this channel, somehow...

I live for the League, I Die for the League. I will never retreat and I WILL draw a line against the Darkness.

Long Live the United League of Planets.

Hail the League.

Ah yes, I see you USN pretenders are still trying to enforce a semblance of your "peace". Hah! The only people you ever brought peace to were the dead. Your government is a joke and your forces flee before the mighty Empire like leaves in a storm! The ULP is a lie, and lives only to serve the ends of the politicians that run your political machine. Already your alliance begins to fracture as more of your planets see the light and join us. We hold to a brighter future. Already some of your comrades have joined with us; joined to overthrow the oppression of your own government and move into the dawn of a great new era! We may next meet on the field of battle as either enemies or allies... the choice is yours.

Commodore Marius (aka RedHellion), AISN

eh, I was placed in a office because of my uber commanding skills... I hate paperwork.

i will serve the usn to the best of my ability but whats with all the formal stuff?

It's called Role Playing graf... as in, you act out the part of your character in the forum as if you actually were them. Also in-game, but that's a moot point for now considering the game is stalled in a re-write.

ha ha ha! i know its "role playing"............ nobody gets my sarcastic jokes.............. XD
